hello i am nui, part girl part webmaster!!!

you could call me an artist by day, and by night, and by soul, and by blood. maybe a little too much sometimes. i've been a digital artist since around 2009 (#iloveMSpaint), got my first drawing tablet in 2012, and became a professional artist in 2022. during the day, i work on video games as a 3D artist — but that is really not what this site is about! because by night, my true joy is maintaining my own personal projects (like this site). or going outside for little walks and enjoying life and taking photos on my phone.

when i am not doing some sort of creative activity, i also like to play games (pretty casually despite my profession), read manga & webtoons (ask me about my favorite one.), learn languages (NOT FRENCH!!!! IM SORRY), solo travel, and am trying to get into the business of watching more movies. still catching up on the classics (got any recs??). there are about 500 different hobbies i'd like to try, and i'm sure i will someday, because i really do have a habit of moving on fast!

for this endeavor in particular: in the 2000s, i was a huge fan of little personal websites, especially the ones centered around cute layouts, cute art, and sozai. i started making my own pixel art around 2008, and took a lot of inspiration from those sites. now i want to continue that in a more general way. i never did have a true site of my own until now, so i hope i can do everything i've dreamed of here, in my own little space. i'm a minimalist at heart, and somewhat vague about my interests (often asking myself: "what DO i like???"), but i am trying to find meaningful places to put the little things i do enjoy.

fun facts

• i have 4 equally favorite animals: cats, goats, whale sharks, quokkas
• i've been to the US (new york, new jersey, boston, palm coast, chicago, los angeles), italy (rome), greece (athens), japan (okinawa, kyoto, kobe, onomichi, osaka, kurashiki, shizuoka, enoshima, tokyo) and have lived in 5 canadian cities
• spring and fall are my favorite seasons. summer is too hot but makes me happy just because its sunny and i can go outside a lot
• i've shipped 2 video games - for privacy i won't name which, but you've likely heard of them!!!
• i dont have any pets right now, but i'm waiting for a stray kitten to show up on my doorstep aaany day now
• i used to mod animal crossing wild world with action replay and deliver hacked items to people online
• when i was 13 i memorized the nations of the world song from animaniacs for no reason
• i have a bronze medal... in dodgeball
• i will be the first person to live to be 150 years old
• i once fainted at the sight of blood and had to get a measly 5 stitches
• i spent a year and a half self-studying japanese, but now i'm very rusty
• i also studied french for 7 years in school, but ironically feel more confident in my japanese skills
• my biggest dream is to never have to work again and just do whatever i want all the time (genie/monkeys paw if you are reading pls ignore, i'll just keep working.)
• i went skiing for the first time when i was 14, and stayed on the bunny hill the entire time
• my apartment has 3 house hippos
